Candy stripe cardigan knitting pattern. A simple go-to cardigan pattern worked in playful stripes, or you can choose to work in just one colour. Instructions are for a cropped length cardigan with bell sleeves. This pattern contains a colour chart to follow, as well as yardage for each colour that can be used if you want to use an alternative yarn.

Materials Required

  • 4mm (US 6) straight knitting needles (30 cm / 12 in)
  • 6mm (US 10) straight knitting needles (30 cm / 12 in)
  • 7 x 15mm / 0.6 in buttons
  • Tapestry needle
  • Yarn snips
  • Matching thread + hand sewing needle
  • Measuring tape
  • Yarn: Touch Yarns 12 ply 100g brushed Mohair (200m / 220yd)

You will need 1 ball in each colour:

  • White, Pistachio, Royal Blue, Lilac, Cocoa, Duck Egg

Gauge

14 sts x 21 rows = 10 cm / 4 in in stocking stitch on 6 mm (US 10) needles

Skill Level

Intermediate. You should be comfortable with:

  • Knit and purl stitches
  • Reading your knitting (knowing your RS from WS, and purls from knits)
  • Working flat
  • Mattress stitch for seaming
  • Decreases and yarn-over buttonholes

Mohair can be tricky, so feel free to substitute a similar weight wool or alpaca yarn with the same gauge to make this cardigan easier to work with.
