The Checkered Vest is an easy crew neck style vest with chunky checkers. 

This is a lace weight knit which has a lovely drape when finished due to the fluffy mohair yarn and chunky needles. 

This knitting pattern is for a PDF download for sizes XS(S, M, L, XL) in au/uk sizing.

Materials Required

  • 8 mm (US 11) straight knitting needles (30 cm / 12 in)
  • 12 mm (US 17) straight knitting needles (30 cm / 12 in)
  • 1 x 100g skein Touch Yarns 12 ply Brushed Mohair in colour A (approx. 210 m / 230 yd)
  • 1 x 100g skein Touch Yarns 12 ply Brushed Mohair in colour B (approx. 210 m / 230 yd)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Measuring tape
  • Yarn snips

Gauge

9 stitches and 11 rows = 10 cm / 4" in stocking stitch using 12mm (US 17) needles.

Skill Level

This is an advanced beginner pattern.
Required Techniques: Long tail cast on, knitting flat, stockinette stitch, intarsia colour changes, decreasing, cast off, mattress stitch.
