Knit flat in silky soft alpaca yarn this cosy Cardigan features a relaxed fit and balloon sleeves. Designed for confident beginners and up, this project is an all-time favourite. 

This knitting pattern has instructions for sizes XS(S,M,L,XL) au/uk sizing.

Materials Required

  • 8 mm (US 11) straight needles (30 cm / 12 in)
  • 12 mm (US 17) straight needles needles (30 cm / 12 in)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Yarn snips
  • Measuring tape
  • Stitch markers

Yarn: Chaska Alpaca Air 12 Ply 50g (100 m / 109 yds)

  • 8 (10, 10, 12, 12) balls
  • 5 x 25mm / 1" buttons of your choice.
  • Thread and sewing needle

Gauge

9 sts x 12 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm (4 in x 4 in) in stocking stitch using 12 mm (US 17) needles and two strands of yarn held together.
We advise you to make a knitting sample before you start. If it takes fewer stitches and rows to make a 10 cm (4 in) square, try smaller needles; if more, try larger needles.

Skill Level

Advanced Beginner. You should be comfortable with:

  • Knit and purl stitches
  • Reading your knitting (knowing your RS from WS, and purls from knits)
  • Working flat
  • Mattress stitch for seaming
