The purpose of the ugly sweater is to create a mismatched, one of a kind sweater that uses up all the odd ends of balls of yarn from previous projects. If the colours don’t match, it will look even better. Blend colours, combine contrasting shades or even different types of wool. Try to finish those random skeins of yarn that have been collecting dust with this wonderful, ugly, cosy, and crazy sweater.
The sweater shape is an oversized, raglan sweater knitted top-down and in the round. This project is knitted with two strands of 12ply brushed mohair held together to create a chunky fabric. You can use other types of yarn to make this sweater as well, but try to make sure that the gauge matches to ensure the correct fit of the sweater.
The Ugly Sweater Pattern is an advanced beginner knitting pattern with instructions for sizes XS [S, M, L, XL] (au/nz sizing). A colour chart is also included that outlines how to replicate the rainbow pattern pictured, if you don't feel confident free-handing the colours.
